Ballerina from Lera Auerbach’s “The Little Mermaid” Wins Ballet Prize “Benois de la Danse”

The prize “Benois de la Danse” in the category of “Best Ballerina,” awarded on 6 May at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, was awarded this year to the solo dancer of the Hamburg Ballet, Silvia Azzoni, for the main role in John Neumeier’s choreography of the ballet “The Little Mermaid” by Lera Auerbach.

The renowned ballet prize “Benois de la Danse,” established in 1991 and known as the “Ballet Oscar” amongst dancers, is awarded in four categories: Best Choreographer, Best Ballerina, Best Male Dancer and Artistic Life Achievement. The chairman of the internal jury was the Moscow choreographer Yuri Grigorovich./
