Once you are able to spare the 150 NP required to create a new shop, start one.
You can earn NPs much faster through restocks.
Another thing you might want to take note of would be Half Price Day, which happens on the third day of each month.
All the stocks at the main Neopian shops are at half-price, so if you get items on this day, you can make even more profit!
The Magic Shop
Location: Neopian Central
Hot Items: Faeries, Morphing Potions
Pros: As mentioned, the items are 'hot' all year round and are always in demand, particularly when there's a Neopian war.
These are guaranteed to make you NPs.
Furthermore, Neopets has recently increased the rarity of all Morphing Potions, which has only increased the price of these potions.
Cons: As mentioned above, a lot of hot items are found in this shop, meaning that this shop is filled with many other Neopians who are also waiting patiently for each restock time.
This shop is highly recommended for people with a fast connection and nimble fingers.
The Pharmacy
Location: Neopian Central

Pros: What can i say? Lol, Hot items = Neopoints
Cons: Be familiar with what are the hot items first before venturing into this shop because you might end up buying an item which you can get for a cheaper price at the shop wizard.
Again, a fast connection and quick fingers play a big role here.
Patience comes into play as well as these hot items are rarely seen.
Happy Icy Fun Snow Shop
Location: Terror Mountain
Hot Items: All the different types of Ice Lolly like Chocalotta Ice Lolly and Mint Explosion Ice Lolly and also magical chia pops that can transform your chias like the Tartan Chia Pop and Magical Lime Chia Pop.
However, note that only certain chia pops are valuable.
Check the shop wizard to find out which are the good ones.
Pros: Ice Lollys are very very often requested in the Snow Faerie’s quests and thus can fetch a pretty high price.
And the good news is, they are not as rare as good stuff in the Pharmacy and thus are easier to grab.
Cons: Rare Magical Chia Pops are really hard to get.
The Chocolate Factory
Location: Neopian Bazaar
Hot Items: Orange Chocolates, Mint Chocolates, Jelly beans, Fondants
Pros: The hot items are mostly assured np makers, as the Kitchen Quests & Snow Faerie Quests tend to ask for items from this shop.
Having a very fast connection is not the key factor here as I've managed to snag a few hot items before with a slow connection.
Cons : Again, familiarise yourself with what's hot and what's not.
Other than that, this shop is a pretty good 'investment'.
Working on Your Shop's Appeal
If most of your 'income' comes from your shop, the tips below might be of some help :)
1) Do not put too many images in your shop.
Puting too many images in your shop will only slow down the time it takes for your items to show up.
This can be extremely annoying for people who are doing jobs for the employment agency.
People will turn to other shops even if you have a price advantage.
Remember that timing is very important when it comes to the job agency.
This, of course, doesn't mean that you can't beautify your shop.
Just choose images which load quickly.
Of course, our guild banners are a good choice and it might win you a petpet as well *winks*
2) Pricing system
Knowing how to price your items is important.
The best method is to always check out how much other people are 'charging' for a particular item using the shop wizard and then price it 1 or 2 nps lower than the lowest price you found.
1 or 2 nps might not sound like a lot but it does make your items 'hotter'.
This method has worked extremely well for me and is highly recommended :)
3) Know who your targetted customers are.
Know who you want to attract to your shop.
If your target group is Neopians who do jobs for the job agency, it wouldn't hurt to know what items are usually needed by the Employment Agency in Faerie City.
Take the time to do your 'research' and it'll do you good :)
Investing and Upgrading
When you have gotten a nice little amount in your bank that you are satisfied with, invest in your shop by expanding.
A bigger shop size means that when people search for items on the Shop Wizard, your shop will appear more on the top of the page.
This way, more people will come to your shop.
However, do not upgrade your shop size until too large a size.
It is pointless to have a shop of size 150 but to have absolutely nothing to stock up the shop with.
Make sure only to have a shop size that you can fill up, else its just a waste of money to expand to that size.
