A very versatile seiyuu capable of performing a wide range of voices, Aya's first most widely known role was Mizuno Ami, or Sailor Mercury, in Sailormoon. With a slightly shy and timid characteristic, her portray of Ami was done with a soft, but not to the point of overtly mute, voice. Other roles Aya were famous for that are worthy of mention includes Skuld from Ah! My Goddess, the cute young goddess with an obsession with mechanics where Aya used a much louder voice. Also the revengeful bounty hunter Iria in Iria, in which she lowers and hardens her voice to depict the more mature Iria.
Perhaps her current most well known role is as the big mouth guardian of the Clow Cards, Cereberus, or more commonly called Kero-chan, in Card Captor Sakura. With a strong line up of portraying young girls, her role as Kero-chan came in as a nice surprise. As Kero-chan spoke with an Osaka accent, Aya, being from Osaka herself, probably had to spend less effort in imitating the accent and can focus more on the actual acting, hence making her performance ever more natural and convincing.
Like many other famous seiyuu, Aya also have a respectable music career. Her specialty lies in slow soothing songs because of her soft voice, but she's also quite capable of handling some of the more upbeat ones.
