Herstory
SigmaGammaRhoSorority

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. a non profit organization was founded on November 12, 1922 on the predominantly white campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Seven young teachers sought to create a network of female, African American educators. We later expanded to include all professional women. That unity drew these women closer-thus forming a lifetime bond. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, although founded in 1922, did not become incorporated until December 29, 1929. Our organization belongs to the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
