The Tear Down
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
This all started when I got a chance to try out some MSD wires to see if they were arcing or not.
  I was putting on #4 and noticed the plug was loose... no big deal I figured so I tightened it up... but it never got tight!  Great, it was stripped out, so I pulled the head and found that I could see all of the rings around all of the pistons clearly... so the bores were shot.  Pulled the motor and found a nice 8-10" crack along the back of the block by the #2 and #3 cylinders.
  With a cracked block, and a junk head there wasn't much point in trying to save the older 2.2/2.5 style setup.
  After getting all of the Vacuum and various lines out of the way, I got rid of all of the older stuff so I could see what I was going to be working with on my new project.  Getting the Valvecover off I found all of the lobes on the cam had worn down about 1/16-1/32".  No wonder the thing didn't want to run like it should have!!
  After the engine was out, the rest of the bay looked fine... well, as good as a Turbo1 setup really can look.  Lots of extra vacuum lines and stuff that was eliminated on the Turbo2 and later designs.  I'll be getting some of them rerouted, but it will still contain several lines that I am going to be stuck with unless I do some more severe/major work.

Getting stripped apart, and it isn't really all that pretty.
