BOY GEORGE
BLITZ CLUB - 1979
Certainly, the unwritten etiquette that existed at Blitz was daunting to anyone not at the pinnacle of that golden hierarchy.   Basically, the innovators like George could do anything and be forgiven, where as the copyists had to abide by the rules created by the innovators which half the time only they  knew anyway.  The only other sure-fire way into that elusive inner sanctum was if you happened to know Steve Strange.
George had none of these problems. He had found his rightful position, way out in front of all the others posers and poseurs - both literally and metaphorically.  As the cloakroom attendant no one could miss him.  And, unlike Billys which had been more like a private party, Blitz became a media event.    -  Sally Brompton - Chameleon    -
