Huangpu River 黄浦江
HUANGPU RIVER 黄浦江 Huangpu river, known as the mother river of Shanghai, which rises in the Tai Lake 太湖, Jiangsu Province 江苏省, flows through the urban area of the city and empties into the mouth of the Yangtze River 长江, with a total length of 112 kilometers. First of all the river is thruway for Shanghai. If you cruise by the river you will see hundreds of cargo and passenger ships. Tere are forest of port cranes on the river-banks. You don't remain indifferent to beauty of four Shanghai bridges: Xupu 徐浦大桥, Lupu 卢浦大桥, Nanpu 南浦大桥 and Yangpu 杨浦大桥. HUANGPU RIVER CRUISE Huangpu River Cruise has been regarded as one of the most important and traditional tourist activities at night. It is known to all that the beautiful Huangpu River, also called the mother of this metropolis, embodies all the quintessences of Shanghai's attractive scenes. The total length of the bridge is 8346 meters. Its main part is 846 meters long and 31.36 meters wide, with a net height of 46 meters, allowing ships of 55000 tons to pass. Nanpu Bridge is so gracefully designed that thousands and thousands of tourists have been attracted by its beauty and majesty. The bridge is 1072 meters long and 35.39 meters wide with 8 lanes for motor vehicles. The 217 meter high main tower is A-shaped. The bridge connects Shanghai-Nanjing Freeway and Shanghai-Hangzhou Freeway as well as connects Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport. Xupu bridge YANGPU BRIDGE 杨浦大桥 Located at the north of the Suzhou Creek and the lower section of the Huangpu River, Yangpu Bridge was completed and open to traffic in Oct., 1993. It looks like a sleeping dragon lying in the sky. The total length of the bridge is 7,658 meters, with its main part 1,172 meters long and 30.35 meters wide. The span of the bridge is 602 meters, with 6 lanes for motor vehicles. Yangpu Bridge was constructed by means of up-to-date technology. It is of a double tower, double cable, overlapped slant drawn structure. People generally consider Nanpu Bridge and Yangpu Bridge "Sister Bridges". This bridge, viewed as "World's No.1 Arch Bridge", was open to traffic in the middle of 2003. The main span is 550 meters, and the net height 46 meters. The bridge extends from the South-North Viaduct in the north to Chuanyang River in the south.
