Kayak Instruction
I am a ACA certified Open Water Coastal Kayak Instructor in Kalispell, Montana. Please contact me if you are interested in lessons--private, individual, group, or dealer/staff training. Basic strokes, advanced strokes and maneuvering, navigation, rolling, rough water, Greenland kayaking--what skills would you like to challenge and develop in a controlled, safe environment? |

Kayak Building
My brother Dan and I built a pair of Chesapeake 17 stitch & glue sea kayaks in 1998. It's a fun boat to paddle, but I wanted something with less initial stability, better maneuverability, and better handling in waves. I built a Guillemot, designed by Nick Schade in early 2000, and love this boat! I modified the original design by stretching it to 18', and I added an inch of height to the deck near the cockpit for more foot room. In retrospect, the additional height was bad. The length is wonderful! My current project is a Squeedunk Kayaks Cormorant with a stripped deck. It should be launched in December, 2002, 2 years to the month after cutting the original panels. |
