A tragic ending to a tragic life. That is the only way I know how to describe the death of Princess Diana. From the age of 19, when she became engaged to Prince Charles, Princess Diana has been followed and harassed by the paparazzi making her the most photographed person in the world. Even during the times when she wanted a normal life, away from all of the glitz and glammour, the paparazzi were relentless in getting that "Million-Dollar photo." Now, because of their pursuit, Princess Diana is dead, leaving behind two sons and millions and millions of fans. But with her death, she also left behind a legacy. A legacy that will hopefully be followed and taught from, and which will remain in our memories and hearts forever. Below is a poem I composed entitled, "Your Legacy", which has helped me cope with her death in a lot of ways;
You left us one fateful night,
Never to return.
It shocked each country, each nation, the world
Because it was not yet your turn.
Tears were shed, hearts were broken,
As the world started to mourn
Of a life lost,
That had been the cost
Of a senseless tragedy,
That will affect our lives for eternity.
We remember you for your caring way,
And all the joy you gave
Your legacy will not be forgotten,
Not for a single day.
You cared so much for everyone,
Even for the dying
You also wanted to help the sick,
And they knew someone was trying.
But before cures could be found,
Before you could help pass the bans,
God took you back up to Heaven
Which must have been his plan.
I know that we will meet soon enough Diana,
In that place up in the sky,
And I speak for everyone when I say
'We love you and goodbye'.
