I went to a party mom, I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, mom, so I drank soda instead.
I felt really proud inside, mom, the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, mom, even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing, mom, I know you're always right.
Now the party's finally ending, mom, and everyone drives out of sight
As I got into my car, mom, I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me, mom, so responsible and sweet.
I started to drive away, mom, but as I pulled onto the road,
The other car didn't see me, mom, and it hit me like a load.
As I lay here on the pavement, mom, I hear the policeman say,
The other guy is drunk, mom, and now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying, mom, I wish you'd get here soon.
How come this happened to me, mom, my life burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me, mom, most of it is mine.
I hear the paramedic say, I'll be dead in a short time.
I just wanted to tell you, mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, mom, the others didn't think.
He didn't know where he was going, mom,
He was probably at the same party as I
The only difference is, mom, He drank and I will die.
Why do people drink, mom? It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now, mom, pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, mom, I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying, mom, when all they can do is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry, mom, tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, write 'DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL' on my grave.
Someone should have told him, mom, not to drink and drive.
If only they had taken the time, mom, I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, mom, I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, mom, because when I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question, mom, before I say good-bye.
I didn't ever drink, mom, so why am I to die?
This is the end, mom, I wish I could look you in the eye.
To say these final words, mom, I LOVE YOU AND GOOD-BYE.

Hi. My name is Sheena Flynn and I'm 24. I started this page when I was 14 and I know this is an unusual topic for a homepage, but it needs to be said. Too many people are dying, because of the violence in this world. One day when I was in my 9th grade World History class, the teacher passed out a pledge for us to fill out and everyone started talking about the violence. The following is an excerpt from the conversation, and all names have been changed.

Mr. Doe: Something needs to be done about the violence in the world. Kids your age, and now even elementary school kids are bringing guns into school and opening fire. How do you guys feel about the violence in the world? Do you think it's right to carry guns to school?

              Bob: I think it's alright.

Mr. Doe: You think it's alright for people to carry guns. You think it's alright for two people to be in an argument, and one person take out a gun and shoot the other person.

Bob: No see, it doesn't happen like that.

              Mr. Doe: Oh, no...

Walter: You don't think it happens that way Bob. My best friend was killed like that because he got into an argument and the other person took out a gun and shot him.

Something needs to be done about this violence. Some people say well what can I do, I can't change the way people act. Yes you can. Even though you don't think so, every little bit can help. It doesn't matter if you write to the governor, the president, or even if you just tell someone you know about it. Some people also think that it has to start with either the parents, the younger kids, or the kids our age and older. IT DOESN'T! It has to start with EVERYBODY, not just the parents, not just the little kids, and not just the kids our age and older. If everyone did something to help, I'm sure that we can ALL make a difference. If you have a problem, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE talk to someone about it instead of thinking that drugs or something else that's harmful, will make you feel better. Don't get to that point. Stop yourself before it's too late. If you can't talk to your parents, talk to another relative or teacher. If you want, you can even ask me for help and I will try my best to help you or I can even listen if you just want me to. I know that I have an issue that's always bothered me, and finally I had to talk to my guidance counselor and one of my teachers. I knew that once I talked to someone about my problem, I would feel a lot better inside. So please, even though we might not know each other, please ask me for help if you need to. I'm training to be a peer mediator at my school and I could use all of the help I can get. If you DO have a problem, and you DO want to talk to me about it, send me an e-mail, with your problem and you don't even have to tell me your name. Just don't get hurt or do something that you'll regret later in life because you didn't want to talk to anyone now.

Ways People Get Hurt Or Killed:

              • smoking
            1. guns
            2. car accidents
            3. knives
            4. suicide
            5. drugs
            6. gangs
            7. drunk drivers
and the most IMPORTANT thing to remember, is that if someone approaches you and asks you to do something you don't want to do, or makes you feel uncomfortable, SAY NO and run the other way to a friends house or to a place you feel safe. Don't think that you're a chicken if you say no. Just remember,
It's better to be an alive chicken, than to be a dead duck
