AKLANON PHRASES GUIDE

By: Felimar M Blanco

In Aklan, most likely you will survive not knowing the dialect at all. If you know your Tagalog, use it. Seventy percent chance that the person you are talking to knows Tagalog. If you're a foreigner and can speak English, use it first. Chances that you could be understood is 50%. Also, we Aklanons are very accommodating. Give us a hint of where you are from, and hope that the person you're talking to knows you dialect/language. If he/she can't speak your tongue, most likely he/she will find someone who can. However, it is always nice and wise to know the dialect of the place. It will make your stay pleasant and enjoyable.
