                                                                        Membership Record

          Founded in June 1996, the Singarong Backpackers started with only 3 founding members. Additional membership to the club has been sparse with only 6 additional members until 1999. In two consecutive years, from 2000 to 2001, it gained only 4 more members. In a reorganization done in 2002, it instituted Membership Classifications, namely Regular, Provisional and Lifetime. Regular membership is earned upon completion of requisites. Provisional membership is given to applicants upon signing of a membership application form, placing the applicant under observation. Lifetime membership is given to Regular members who have contributed a lot for the growth and development of the club. Honorary membership is endowed as well to non-member mountaineers who have failed to meet the requisites but has joined the club in its activities.
            Membership to the Messner Team, the nonguided exploratory climbing (NEC) team of the club, started in September 1998.  The Team has four original members. Another one is included in 1999. Since 2002, the qualifications for membership in this Team are Regular membership and completion of two successful NECs.
