Steam gushing       out of a sulfur         vent in Sulfatara     in Madalagn            Range.

                                           UNIQUE DESTINATIONS

* Tinagong Dagat or Danao (Mandalagan Range)
               - about 4-7 hours of hike from Patag or 2-4 hours from                            Kampuestuhan. An ancient volcanic crater, it has a 2-hectare field of fine         grass that turns into a lake in heavy rain.

* Sulfatara (Mandalagan Range)
                - about 5-8 hours of hike from Patag or 6-10 hours of trail hike and     difficult scrambling on steep mountainsides from Kampuestuhan. With hot    springs and sulfur  vents gushing with steam.

                                      WATERFALLS
                        (The Generally Accessible Falls)

* Malatan-og Falls (Don Salvador Benedicto)
                - about 2-3 hours from the town proper. Water
    drops at about 190 ft.

* Pulang Tubig and Other Patag Falls (Patag)
                - Pulang Tubig is around 45 minutes from the old
     Patag hosiptal. Voluminous water drops at 170 ft.

  * Masagana Falls (Kampuestuhan)
                - about 1 hour from the barrio. Thin water drops
     at about 140 ft.

  * Seven Gawahon Falls (Gawahon)
                - the First Falls is about 45 minutes from the
      barrio and the Seventh Falls is about 1 1/2 hours. The
      tallest is the Cigarette Falls with a thin water dropping
      at about 125 ft.

PULANG TUBIG (in Patag, Silay City) means `red water'. The rock over which the water falls used to have a red pigmentation, hence the red color of the water.

                                                                                   WATERFALLS
                                                                              (The Secluded Falls)

  * Milarong Falls (Sulfatara) - about 1 hour along the stream from Sulfatara Camp. Water drops at  300 ft.

  * Gerardo Falls (Mandalagan Range) - although it can be seen from the ridge of Mt. Sirab overlooking
                   Sulfatara, it is separated by a rugged and trail-less terrain from Sulfatara. A day of exploratory
                   trek may be enough to reach this falls that, in all probability, has never been reached by moun-
                   taineers. Voluminous water drops at about 400 ft.

  * Pil-as Bato Falls (Mt. Dinamlagan) - discovered by the SB in 1997, it is more than 1 hour of difficult
                   scrambling from First Buttress Camp which is about 2-3 hours of hike from Gawahon. Thin
                    water drops at 200 ft. over a rock cliff.

  * Sicaba-Tuo Falls (Sicaba Region) - discovered by the SB in 1997, it is about 1 hour of river-trailing
                   from Sicaba-Tuo Camp which is about 5 hours from Gawahon.  Thin water drops at about 80 ft.
                   over a mossy rock cavern.

  * Triple-Drop Falls (Sicaba Region) - discovered by the SB in 1997, it is about 45 minutes of river-trailing
                   from Sicaba-Wala Camp  which is about 6 hours from Gawahon.  Total drop is about 140 ft.

  * Giant Sicaba Falls (Sewahon-Sicaba Region) - discovered by chance by the SB on August 29, 1999, it
                  is situated deep in the secluded strip of virgin forest that was reached by the SB in four days
                  from Gawahon. Water drops at about 800 ft.

  * Other Falls (NNFR) - plenty of other magnificent falls are scattered in the NNFR like the tall Talaba-an
                  Falls in Cadiz, the Calaptan Falls and Nasakob Falls in Canlusong. The NNFR is a major water-
                  shed in the island of Negros.
