1994 - 1995 Thunderbird / 1997 Headlight Upgrade

The 1997 Headlight conversion is fairly straight forward and improves the appearance of the front end. 1994 and 1995 Thunderbirds require minimal effort.

Remove:

1. Corner side marker lamps.

2. Front bumper cover: by unscrewing 3 screws in each inner wheel well, 3 plastic retainers at the center of the cover above the emblem housing, four (two on each side) nuts holding the cover ends to sides of front fender; on the inside of the bumper cover - access through the fog light holes. And everything holding the splash shield to the frame (5 plastic retainers, rock shield - if you still have it, and two screws on each side holding it to the inner fenders.

3. 1994 Head lamp mounting panel, 8 bolts held to the Radiator Support

4. Swap the support brackets from the 94 Mounting Panel to the 97, there are extra brackets on the 97 so it has double the reinforcement; you will need to remove two bolts from the radiator support where the two New brackets attach.
There are also two clips to hold the corner lamps that need to be swapped over.

5. 1997 Head Lamp Assemblies to the 1997 Head Lamp Mounting Panel - once you turn the retainers on the back of the headlamps they lock into the panel.

6. Head Lamp Mounting Panel to front end of vehicle

Re-install:

7. Front Bumper Cover - Postion the bumper cover between the headlights and guide the tabs to their locaiton on the Headlamp mounting panel. Push the bumper cover into place and install the bolts into the fenders and over the plastic wheel well. Once the bumper is Fit and lined up in place, you will need to drill 3 new holes into the Headlamp Mounting Panel for the 3 plastic retainer clips.

8. Corner markers, Light bulbs, and wiring assemblies to the back of the Head Lamp Bulbs - Note: The locking retainers to hold the Bulb to the Head Lamp Housing from the 94 will not fit the 97, so you can buy new ones or leave them out)

9. Lightbulbs (optional) - APC 8O/1OO Watt (Super White) lightbulbs are much brighter than the 55/60 Watt lights that come Stock. They also have a blueish tint which reflects well against the coear Headlight and mirror reflectors inside.
