Dollar Rent-a-car at (well not really AT) SeaTac Airport.
The ButtHead at the Dollar Rent-a Car Office.
This is the incident that happened with the Dollar
rent-a-car office. When we rented the car, they told us to wait for the
"shuttle bus" on "island 1 or
island 3". We waited on island 1. We waited and waited and
waited. All
the other rental car and hotel buses kept passing us, but not a single
Dollar bus. I tried my cell phone but there was no signal. We looked
for a pay phone but there were none. I got into a cab and tried to take
the cab to the car rental office, but the cab driver who barely spoke
English was very pissy and said that he couldn't go anywhere unless I
have the exact address. As soon as I got out of the cab, he told me
that he could call for the address. I got back in and he took me
directly to the rental office without calling in.
I got to the rental office and asked them why the bus didn't show up.
He said that we didn't call. I told him that I rented the car for 11:30
PM from their office, so why didn't they sent the bus at 11:30. Again,
he said that we should have used the "courtesy phone". I told him that
there was no phone. He said it's on island 3. I told him that we were
on island 1. He said well we don't send the bus unless you call. I got
the rental car and drove to pick up everybody, but you can't take a car
into the bus area. I drove through the airport several times, but there
was absolutely no way to get to where everybody else was.
I went back to the Dollar rent-a-car place and told him the problem. He
told me to go to the baggage area. He didn't know that I had just come
from there. I asked him why he would waste even more time by sending me
to the baggage area when he knew that I still wouldn't be able to get
into the bus area. He just repeated go to the baggage area four more
times. I told him that I was absolutely fed up with his antics and that
I wanted them to send me in the bus, like they should have in the first
place, and to pick up everybody else. They sent me in the bus, and as
soon at it arrived I saw everyone else in my party and I told the
driver that I would only be two minutes NOT to go anywhere. He looked
me straight in the eye and said ok. As soon as I got off the bus, he
drove off. I couldn't believe it. He returned in about twenty minutes
and acted like nothing was wrong. I asked him if he knew what "two
minutes" meant. He nodded. When I got back to the rental office to pick
up the rental car I had to leave parked on the sidewalk due to the lack
of parking, I spoke with the idiot night manager again. He seemed to be
greatly amused at our misfortune and was quite a smart ass. Each time I
would ask him a question, he would give me just part of the answer
unless I pressured him for more information. It actually took more time
to get everybody IN the Dollar rental car than it did to fly from
Anchorage Alaska to Seattle. When we finally got to the hotel we were
quite late. We explained what had happened at the Dollar rental place,
and the woman at the desk said EVERYBODY has problems at the Dollar
rental place and that everybody hated renting from them. She said that
some people had such a bad time with the Dollar people that they
refused the car and rented from another place. We were afraid that this
was an omen of how the rest of the trip would be.
I called the Dollar customer service and they were as useless as the
office that rented the car to us.
I have decided NOT to rent another car from Dollar for the rest of my
life. I don't know if I can handle the stress!
