Pi Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma originated in 1910 at Kansas State Teacher's College, now called Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, as Rho Mu Gamma with 43 chartered members. Although Pi Chapter obtained its own house, it did not purchase its own house until 1930; however it was the first sorority on campus to own its own home. The current chapter house, built in the 1920s and obtained in the mid 1940s, is located in a district of historically prominent homes. The 1960s saw a new addition to the back of the house, which included two sleeping porches, several extra rooms, and a TV lounge. The exterior of the house has recently been restored to its orginail 1920 facade. |
