Sigma Sigma Sigma History
Our Lovely Founders
Tri Sigma's eight Founders, Margaret Batten, Louise davis, Martha Featherston, Isabella Merrick, Sallie Michie, Lelia Scott, Elizabeth Watkins, and Lucy Wright formed a treasured and special friendship at the Normal School. Lucy Wright and Lelia Scott led the first meetings of the S.S.S. Club in 1897.  The announced the founding of the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma on April 20, 1898 at Longwood College in Woodstock, Virginia.

The circle of friendship that began in the 1890s, with eight women, now encompases
over 80,000 women worldwide.  The women of Tri Sigma represent the diversity found
on college campuses today.

Today, the national headquarters of Tri Sigma is located at the Maple Lee Walton house
located in Woodstock, Virginia.
