The SIGMA BETA CLUB was founded on April 23rd 1954 in Montgomery, AL by Marcus "Too Smooth" Williams, Jeremy Wilson, Alex Donavan, Michael Anderson and three brothers who have past on; William Anderson (1968), Tore' Lucas (1986) and John Lewis (1991). 

The SIGMA BETA CLUB consists of young men ranging from 14 to 18.  These young men attend local high schools and are mentor by the brothers of PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY, INC.  The PHI BETA SIGMA brothers instill in the SIGMA BETA CLUB members the true meaning of brothers, the importance of education and the worth of community service.

Each young man that joins this club is asked to comply with the following "Code of Ethics".

A. As members of the SIGMA BETA CLUB, committed ot make the lives of our people better, we
    solemnly promise to exemplify at all times: courteous acts, friendliness, promptness, trust,
    understanding and high moral behavior.

B. A SIGMA BETA CLUB, member should place the reputation and welfare of the club or any
    member of the organization above his personal preferences for prejudices.

C. When differences of opinion occur, a SIGMA BETA CLUB member may disagree with others, but
    should never be disagreeable or unfair.

D. All SIGMA BETA CLUB members should work together, offer suggestions and help in every way
    possible to strengthen, promote and extend Sigma's purposes, ideas and activities.

E. At meetings and at other occasions, a SIGMA BETA CLUB member should listen attentively, act
    constructively and keep an open mind.

F. A SIGMA BETA CLUB member should not accept an nomination for office or a chairmanship of a
    committee unless he is able to serve.

G. A SIGMA BETA CLUB member shall always be loyal to the ideas of PHI BETA SIGMA
    FRATERNITY, INC. (Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service)
