Thank you for visiting the Sigma Theta Psi, Founding Chapter
at San Jose State University, web site. Sigma Theta Psi was
founded at SJSU on November 13, 1991 by 18 women, who wanted
to create an organization that would accept female students
regardless of race, religion or economic background. Together
they strove to become, not only a support group, but an organization
that would focus on Academics, Community Service and Multicultural
awareness.
Since
1991, the Founding Chapter has initiated over 90 sisters.
Each sister has contributed to the growth of our organization
which continues to grow 11 years later. Since our inception
we have grown from one chapter to seven chapters over Northern
