Staten Island Greens
Eco-Fest 2003

for a sane and sustainable future
April 24-27, 2003

Organized by the Staten Island Greens
with the Common Wheel Collective
and Collaborative Projects

The event takes place in multiple venues in Staten Island’s North Shore, including forums at
Wagner College and an exposition and workshops at the Muddy Cup coffeehouse:

The Staten Island Greens Eco-Fest
for a Sane and Sustainable Future

is broadly conceived as an exposition of new and sustainable technology, a cultural fair, and a philosophical forum.
It is about new ways of thinking and living, different economies,
and an emerging demand for new ideas. Areas of focus will include: new energy technologies (and practical ways to fund them); transportation alternatives; green home building techniques; economic philosophy; community, from local political governance to cooperative and collective self-management; backyard habitat; sharing land with, and
supporting, wild animals in the outer boroughs and suburbia; art, music, and poetry; and children’s activities.

What paradigms can lead us into a sane and sustainable future?
A forum on this question will take place at Wagner College on
Thursday the 24th, examining bioregionalism and
participatory economics. A second forum on eco-activism is planned
for Friday the 25th. On the weekend, a daytime exposition will be held at the Muddy Cup coffeehouse; workshops will take place in the back room of Martini Red across the street. In the evening, cultural events will take place at
Martini Red and at the Winter Palace cultural center (151 Winter Ave.), where an art exhibition, “My Green Home,” will open.

These venues can be reached by bus, bike or foot from the ferry.
