This is the patch for the expansion set only. If you do not have the expansion set, you cannot use this patch. This patch updates the map editor to allow you to use the heros and swamp terrain in your puds. Apparently, they still won't load puds edited by War2xedit, but it is nice for editing terrain. Also, new to ver. 1.5, it stops the cheat programs from working in multi-player games.
Warcraft II upgrade patchThis is the patch for War 2 that upgrades it to version 1.2. It fixes an exorcism bug and some system-specific issues, adds color randomization for multiplayer games and also includes a Kali patch for improved performance. If you have the expansion set, then you won't need this patch, because the expansion set upgrades War 2 to version 1.3 automatically when you install it.
Microsoft WinG and Microsoft Win32sYou need these programs to run the Warcraft II Map Editor or any of the other programs where it is specified, on Windows 3.1 Download them now!
Warcraft 2x Map EditorThe Warcraft 2x Map Editor, created by Daniel Lemberg, lets you do a great many things, even if you don't have the expansion set. Besides leting you add the heros and use the swamp terrain from the expansion set, this program let's you claim possesion over any unit in the game, including Critters, Gold Mines (and any other units similar to mines), the "Eye of Kilrogg," and you can even start out with Paladins and Ogre-Magi (although they don't have any spells). This program also allows you to set tiles as bridges (land and water units can go over them), caves (air units can't go over these), and space (no units can go over this one). One of the best features is the ability to change the missile types fired by the units, so you could have an archer shooting lighting, a death knight shooting ballista bolts, or a tower shooting flame shield. Take my advice and download this program now!
WarDraftThis is another great program for Warcraft II created by Alexander Cech that lets you extract the files out of the *.WAR files in the war2 data directory. Among the files you can extract are: pictures, text appearing in the game, puds, the icons and tiles for each unit (units also include buildings), WAV files in the game, XMI midi files from the game, hex dumps, and the animations from the game. To view the animations, you will need Smackplayer (also requires Win95 or Win 3.1 with WinG and Win32s). Also, this now comes with GFX Convert and the Speed Editor built in. Also, now it has a new Campaign editor, Map-Tile editor, and AI editor built in It also now has War 2 Alpha support!!
Warcraft 2 Unit EditorThis is a great unit editor created by Scorpions. It allowes you to set a lot of different properties and flags on the units, including starting them out with their magic (for ogres and knights, once they are upgraded to Paladins and Ogre-Magi, they will have all their magic). This program is great for getting more specific features on the units like making them visible only to fliers (just like subs!), and even changing their move command for pressing the right move button to something like demolish! This is a great program for adding fine details to your puds. This program also now works as a Plug-in for PUD Draft.
PUD DraftAnother excellent utility written by Alexander Cech! This is the master of all PUD Editors! The easy-to-use interface of Blizzard's editor, plus all the unique features of others, make this a must for any PUD creators. This is still a beta version, so a few things are missing, including the Advanced Unit Properties, but it's still great in this form. Try this utility out!
Here is a list of the current Plug-ins supported by PUD Draft:
Scorpions' War2Unit 3.1
Scott Sipe's UDTAed Lite 0.91a
Cameron Buschardt's UDTAhack
This is a random PUD Generator created by SpiderweBB. This is only the shareware version (which doesn't have many features), but you can get the full one for $15.
PUD RestrictorThis great utility written by Alexander Cech allows you to do what you never thought possible. You can now restrict units, buildings, spells, and upgrades in puds! It also allows to to set spells for the units to start out with (for example, you could start your mage out with all spells). It also has a new experimental save game editor. This is a must have utility for any serious PUD Authors.
PuddleThis is a nice utility created by the guys at Pudland. It lets you manipulate puds in many ways, including rotating and fliping them. It's a very usful utility.
PudPasteThis is a great utility made by Bladefist for copying parts of one pud, and pasting them on to the other!! Check it out!
UTDAeditThis is a cool utility made by Scott Sipe. It can edit the default unit stats. in Maindat.war and also the names in Strdat.war!!
UTDAedit LiteThis was also made by Scott Sipe. It's basically the same as the above version, but works as a plug-in to PUD Draft.
UTDAhackThis is yet another UTDA editor written by Cameron Buschardt. It has more support for things like making stats. for an added unit (See Warhack) and an enormous amount of additional features. This also works as a Plug-in to PUD Draft.
Entry-278-ToolsThis utility written by Alexander Cech is like an expansion to his Speed Editor located in WarDraft. It is used for advanced editing of the animation control program. Alex says that you will need to understand how the Speed Editor works, and you will also need a little bit of Programing skill to use this program. It is NOT for novices.
PUD ImageThis is a very helpful utility written by Alexander Cech which allows you to extract the mini-maps of puds as .bmp files very easily. It is very helpful for homepages or other places you may want to display puds.
PUD BrowserThis utility written by Bill Wright allows to to get a full screen preview of PUDs. Take a look.
PUD MasterThis is a useful utility for all Macintosh users who feel left out. From what I've heard, it has the capabilities of War2xedit, WarDraft, PUD Browser, War2Unit, and CraftGen, only is for the Macintosh. This program was created by Brett Wood.
Blind PUDAnother Random PUD Generator, Blind PUD, was created by Spanner. From what I've seen, it's a lot better than CraftGen, and doesn't even require you to pay an extra $15 to get the full version! The maps did look nice. You should give it a try.
WarHackFinally, someone has written a utility to make modifications to the exe file. This program, written by Cameron Buschardt, allows you to do a number of this, including allowing single player walls, modifying spells, allowing NPC's to be built, and more! This utility is really nifty.
