THOUGHTS OF AWARENESS OF THE BUDDHA By Sister J. Anna Marie Remember, Buddha is not a god and has never claimed to be a god. A Buddha is a human being just like us. This is the appeal that makes Buddhism graspable to people of any faith or culture. A Buddha is aware of life as it is right now. "TO THE BUDDHA AND THE DHARMA AND SUPREME CUMMUNITY I SHALL FIRMLY CLING FOR REFUGE UNTIL BODHI IS ATTAINED BY THE VIRTUES OF MY CHARITY AND MERITORIOUS DEEDS MAY I ACHIEVE ENLIGHTENMENT TO SERVE ALL SENTIENT BEINGS" |

Many people and religions use meditation/prayer to achieve awareness. Following is a montra or tones that are from the most popular of Buddha's teachings, the Heart Sutra (the Prajna Paramita). These tones are verbalized or sung during some meditations: "TADYATHA OM GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SVAHI." We will discuss more about this awareness later. |
