Casey Cargile,Lance Corporal
United States Marine Corps
The Marine Hymn
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.
Casey Cargile, Pfc. is my 23 year old grandson. He is now married to a wonderful young woman, Kristina, and they have a son, Brayden Tyler Cargile. As a family, I can say that all of us are very proud of our Marine. He is a fine young man and the pride of our family. I know that his Pepaw, Albert Slack, would have been so very proud of him. I am sorry Pepaw didn't live to see this day. I think Casey got some of his interest in the military from my dad who was a Naval Aviator in WW2.
Casey was injured when he was in Iraq. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his injury. His leg still troubles him and he will not be able to go back to Iraq at this time. He has been able to stay in California with his wife and new son where he has undergone physical therapy and a lot of pain. What the future holds is anyone's guess. We are praying that the Lord will protect all of our young men and women who are serving their country anywhere on this earth.
Casey was honorably discharged from the Marines. He and Kristina have moved with their son to Mexia, TX. He and Kristina have good jobs and have made a home filled with much love. I am so proud of them!
