205. Tennessee 6th Infantry Regiment Organization: Organized at Camp Beauregard, Jackson, on May 23, 1861. Transferred to Confederate service at Camp Blythe, near New Madrid, Missouri, on August 12, 1861. Company L assigned from the 55th Infantry Regiment in April 1862. Company F disbanded in October 1862. Reorganized on May 6, 1862. Field consolidation with the 9th Infantry Regiment from December 1862 to April 9, 1865. Additional field consolidation with the 4th Provisional Army and 50th Infantry Regiments from December 1864 to April 9, 1865. Consolidated (as Company A) with the 1st, 4th Provisional Army, 8th, 9th, 16th, 27th and 28th Consolidated Infantry Regiments and the 24th Sharpshooters and designated as the 1st Infantry Regiment Consolidated at Smithfield, North Carolina, on April 9, 1865.
