Higher Headquarters During the War
The 6thTexas Cavalry Regiment was ordered to Fort Smith,  Arkansas, in  late November 1861. It was assigned west of the Mississippi until the spring  of 1862. After that time it was to be assigned east of the Mississippi for the   rest of the war. This a list of headquarters to which it was assigned.
