Wilkie Lake, Catlins
Back in New Zealand again! This time I'll let the pictures tell the story, just move your mouse over the pictures to see where they are. We didn't travel so far this time, sticking to the southern half of the south island. We travelled through the Catlins, down to Stewart Island via Invercargill. We used Stewart Island Flights to fly into Mason Bay, camped overnight and walked through the centre of the Island, camping once more at Freshwater Landing, before catching a water taxi back to Oban. On the way we saw three kiwis getting very close to them and the rare Stewart Island Robin. We loved Stewart Island and return later having been to Doubtful Sound and Queenstown. We'd recommend flying onto the Island and the Bay Motel where we stayed. We then returned to Dunedin, Otago, my favorite NZ city before flying out of Christchurch. We will be back, but not that soon, the flight is VERY long!
