This is the first of two trips I took with Exodus in 2001, more about the Zimbabwe and Botswana one next. This was a week long trip in the Picos, a less visited mountain range in the middle of Spain's north coast, a few miles inland. A relatively small range, but as you can see, very picturesque, particularly the Cares Gorge (below). It's also a well known amongst cavers for it extensive cave systems, some of which are used by locals for maturing cheese (honest)! The highlight of this trip, was without question, the opportunity to go caving, with our enthusiastic guide, Jim, who came to the region specifically to cave. Once you got used to the confined spaces and Jim's sense of humour (making you crawl through one foot gaps when you could have walked around), then it was great fun! A great way to spend an afternoon - try it if you can. |
