shared the losses as well as the successes; they lived up to the motto embroider
on the colors of the Polish Air Force: 'Love demands Sacrifice'. The love of
their country made them wiling to sacrifice if need by their lives so that
Poland might again be free. They also lived up to our motto - the motto of
the Royal Air Force - Per Ardua ad Astra. Through the hard toil of war, they
fought on until they saw, with us, the stars of victory.
I pray that some means can be found, some honorable
arrangement made, whereby these gallant squadrons can return to Poland with all
the honor which is their due".
