INNOCENCE LOST WEBSITE
I have explained to Rose that hindsight is a wonderful thing; yet it is useless. What
I am trying to impact on her is, that in this day and age, we all must be diligent.
We must be cautious to look at things very closely. Too many people have character
flaws and hidden secrets due to drugs, alcohol or lack of morals. I have explained to
Rose now, and I hope all girls who may read the webpage realize, that if something
happens to you, go home as fast as you can and tell an adult immediately.
It is wise to size up a situation like this and make the decision to leave.
I told Rose to just tell the people you decided to go home. Also, if she is too
far to walk home, a child should feel free to call and just say they do not wish to
stay there. Then arrangements can be made to bring them back home.
Children do not realize that they have options. They think that once they have
decided to stay somewhere or go somewhere, they cannot change their mind. This is
all part of our new work with Rose.
Rose is learning how to live with basic necessities right now. This is what her
Psychologist has recommended. She must open her eyes without constantly
thinking of what she wants and see reality to prevent her from remaining a victim.
According to her doctors, she will soon learn to pay more attention to the real world.
She will be more alert to the outside evils of this world and be ready to see them
for what they are.
Rose has been sent away for two weeks to adjust to medication and to adjust to
having nothing but necessary items. Her doctors believe that by doing this,
she will be able to make more decisions on her own when she returns. She will be
more alert and discerning. Then, in turn, she can let us know when she doesn't feel
right about something, and we, as the adults, can take care of it. This is
our main goal -- to make sure she is never victimized again -- to help her realize
her self worth, and to make her stronger.
As with any victim of rape, Rose has much fear and doubt right now.
She has horrible dreams, sleepwalks, and has very low self esteem. But, Rose
also feels that she is an adult because of what happened. We are working on
bringing her back to childhood: She is a twelve year old child with the
knowledge of an eighteen-year-old.
What I wanted Rose to understand is that by telling her story, it may prevent
someone from ending up in that same situation. Maybe they will think more
clearly when they hear how easily this all happened -- also that a predator
will wait for an opportunity -- When they see it, they grab it.
Women of ALL ages, shapes, and sizes, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

LYRICS TO THIS USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND
As recorded by Madonna
This used to be my playground [used to be]
This used to be my childhood dream
This used to be the place I ran to
Whenever I was in need
Of a friend
Why did it have to end
And why do they always say
Don't look back
Keep your head held high
Don't ask them why
Because life is short
And before you know
You're feeling old
And your heart is breaking
Don't hold on to the past
Well that's too much to ask
(chorus)
Live and learn
Well the years they flew
And we never knew
We were foolish then
We would never tire
And that little fire
Is still alive in me
It will never go away
Can't say goodbye to yesterday [can't say goodbye]
(chorus)
No regrets
But I wish that you
Were here with me
Well then there's hope yet
I can see your face
In our secret place
You're not just a memory
Say goodbye to yesterday [the dream]
Those are words I'll never say [I'll never say]
This used to be my playground [used to be]
This used to be our pride and joy
This used to be the place we ran to
That no one in the world could dare destroy
