Beethoven wrote this hauntingly beautiful piece at a time in his life when he became increasingly deaf. After he completed it, he learned that he would live in total silence, the composer's greatest personal tragedy.

Sometimes we cannot prevent what is going to happen to us. We may be overpowered physically. If this ever happens to you, please use your wits and make sure you will have information that will help you to see that person incarcerated later. If you are being assaulted and know that there is no way to get away from your assailant, then make sure you look him in the eye, memorize his face, look for details. If you are in a car remember the make, model, license plate number, The color, or any thing pertinent. Always see if there is an escape route; but if not, try to be as calm as you can so that you can convict him at a later date. Seek help as soon as you can. My youngest daughter was fortunate enough to keep her wits about her when a man grabbed her and tried to pull her into his car. She looked him square in the eye and said, "Hey: You don't need to pull me so hard: I will come with you." He had her pinned between his car and a wall, but she saw her escape route. When he let his hand loosen on her arm, she talked to him for a moment, thinking all the time. When she saw her opportunity, she jerked her hand free and ran to where she worked as fast as she could. When she ran in, she had the license plate number, the type of car, the color of car, and his description. He was later arrested, and he was a three-time sex offender. She identified him in a lineup, and the detective asked how she had been so detailed in her police report. My daughter's reply was that it was from what I had told my other daughters so many years ago. It is a shame, but it has been put to use twice now within my family. I hope this little bit of information will help someone else. Or rather I pray no one ever needs to use this information. But we DO live in a society that we need to be informed of what to do to protect ourselves.
