There are many different species of sparrows. This one has a white throat, striped head pattern and the breast is light gray and the back is streaked with brown. This one is 5 3/4 inches long but sparrows can range from 4 3/4 to 7 inches long. It breeds in North America but winters mainly in the southeast. It's food preference is mixed seeds, sunflower hearts and black oil sunflower seeds.

They are part of the cardinal subfamily. In the sunlight, it shows as a brillant blue and in the shade it may appear as black. They may come to a feeder in spring, summer and fall but they winter in Central and South America. They like mainly seeds and really like thistle, grasses and grains. Millet and canary seed are favorite at feeding stations.

This is a grayish crested bird with large black eyes. It is 5 1/2 inches and is a common visitor to the feeder, often along with chickadees for company. They prefer black-oil sunflower seeds and hearts plus peanuts. They usually stay in eastern half of North America.

    Most people would reconize this bird. It is a very large(17 inches)all-black bird that is found in a lot of towns and cities. It is also can be found at feeding stations. It prefers to eat suet, meat and food scraps, plus bread products. It is a common resident across most of North America.

      Blue jays are large blue and white birds with a crest and will grow up to 10 inches. They reside in the eastern 2/3 part of North America and love sunflower seeds, cracked corn, suet, peanuts and will hog the bird feeder and chase off others. They are also part of the crow family. These birds can also be a big pest if you are trying to attract other birds to a feeder as they will chase them away. They will do a lot of chattering.
