This is Gator, he belonged to an elderly friend of
ours. My husband always told him that we would take
Gator when he couldn't take care of him anymore. Late
in 1987 he brought him to us. He was such a wonderful
dog and got along well with Lady as they were near
the same age. He was very protective if he was tied
up but when he was untied, he was just a wonderful dog and
great with kids. He also would try to
outrun lady for the tennis ball and most of the time
he did,but he just didn't
want her to have it. Then in 1992 he got really sick.
We took him to the vet, he did some tests, checked him
out and then told us what he could do, but he did say it might not help. We got meds for him, it just didn't seem to help, so we took him back and the vet tried but he just didn't get
better. We decided to put him to sleep as he was weak
and the vet didn't think he would make it. We still
think he was fed poison from someplace. Lady would
stay home but Gator and this other dog would sneak
away. The other dog belonged to our friends. His dog
was missing for a few days but Gator had come home
and then started to get sick. The neighbor later
found his dog just down the road from his home, It
had died before it could reach home. Gator was 8
years old.
