"Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best." -Henry Van Dyke

Sketches of Flamingos "Flamingos" (2001)
A study of Flamingos.

Butterfly Fairy in Pool "Evening Pool" (2001)
Done for a charity art show. My first ever piece in pastels.

Sketches of Ducklings "Ducklings" (2001)
A few sketches of the newborn baby ducks at Tom Sawyer Island this Spring.

Varied Sketches of Costume Designs "Collage #1" (2001)
A collage of sketches I've created over the past month and a half of fantasy costume designs.

Varied Sketches of Costume Designs "Collage #2" (2001)
Another collage of sketches for fantasy costume designs.

Elf Holding Wand "With a Bag of Tricks" (2000)
Another convention piece; my second highest seller. Would you trust this elf? ^.^

Dragons with butterfly wings "Dragon-flies in the Woods" (2000)
One of my convention pieces that is still available. I was inspired by a birds calendar we had last year. I think this is currently the best coloring job I've ever done on a picture.

Hummingbird gryphons "Garden of Humming-gryphons" (2000)
The companion piece to the dragon-flies. This is also a convention piece that is still available.

An angel with her back turned to viewer "Grey Angel" (2000)
An angel I drew one Sunday afternoon to practice greyscale shading and visual texture. I was amazed at how well the wings came out without a reference for feathers.

Fire-breathing dragon soaring over cliff with cloaked figure. "Fury Unleashed" (2000)
I did this piece to fill quota for a convention. I suppose that a larger quota doesn't mean a large amount of sales; this one didn't sell. However, it was a good learning experience. Now one question: Is the dragon controlled by the man on cloaks on the cliff? I guess we'll never know.

Dragon perched on rooftop of gothic house. "Rooftop Visitor" (2000)
This piece was also done for the same convention. It was an experiment with grisaille technique which I had hoped would dull the colors to be appropriate for the dim light. The experiment failed, but it still looks nice.

Greyscale dragon perched on rooftop of gothic house. "Rooftop Visitor (Greyscale)" (2000)
this was the grisaille piece before the color was added. I upload it as well because I like it more than I do the final version.

A shelf full of books, a treasure chest, a sword, etc. "Bucaneer's Still Life" (2000)
A still life of pirate belongings I saw one day while I was out doing life drawings in Adventureland. Ever since I read Robinson Crusoe, I've been fascinated with 19th century sailors' life, and I thought this was a nice assemblage of items.

A shelf full of books, a treasure chest, a sword, etc. "Mexican Courtyard" (2000)
Another life drawing of a fountain from a Mexican courtyard in Pecos Bill's restaurant in Frontierland. I think it was the lion head that attracted me to the fountain, or maybe it was just the overall beautiful ambiance the place had.

A Chinese woman in armor "Mei Lin Triumphant (v.1)" (2000)
First rough draft of a picture of my character Mei Lin. The second phase of this project is to add a cannon, a dragon mount, and the background on a seperate sheet of paper, then copy them all together on watercolor paper and paint.

A standing knight in armor "Elven Warrior II" (2000)
A remake of my old elven warrior picture. This version of the character design looks much more masculine. I revisited the character because I would like to use the design in a larger piece, but I believe the final version will be wearing a tunic and lighter armor.

Two sketches of elves "Elven character Study" (2000)
A couple of character designs for a couple of pictures I hope to complete in the future. I did the roughs in colored pencils, which is why they each have a color aura around them.

A cowgirl with a lasso "Sweet Sue" (2000)
A quick character drawing I did of a game character of mine, a cowgirl named Sweet Sue Belle. The inking was done by my husband.

A dark-skinned elf "The Elf Queen" (1999)
I had originally planned this to be a nice big composite of three pictures of the same character, but this is the only one of the three sketches I still liked by the end of the process. Her right leg/arm is cut short because I was going to place another drawing over that area.

Girl in a sailor suit "Sailor X" (1999)
A superhero character done of another artist's fan character on an art exchange site. Sailor X prepares to unleash an attack.

A cloaked girl "Portrait of Reina" (1999)
Reina, a character I drew as part of an artist exchange site. I was very pleased with the colored pencil on her clothing.

Sketches of a young girl "Untitled" (1998)
Some sketches of a character I was developing named Crystal Rose. I wanted to add some pencil sketches to the gallery, to show how my drawings look before inked.

Dancing girl's head and shoulders "Untitled" (1998)
Another pencil sketch of a dancing girl I drew one night on the spur of the moment. I added this one because I really like the pose.

A girl on a swing "Fuu in the Countryside" (1998)
A picture of the character Fuu from CLAMP's comic Magic Knight Rayearth. Colored totally in colored pencils.

A brownie hovering in midair "Samwise" (1998)
A cute winged brownie (elf-fairie creature) I did between college classes. She was originally intended to be a rendition of my mouse character, Samwise, but I ended up choosing the mouse form over everything else.

An elf in armor attacking "Elven Warrior" (1998)
Another abandoned idea for what I wanted Samwise to be. I like this picture because I'm usually bad at drawing male characters. The pose is also nice.

Angel standing over a young girl "My Guardian Angel" (1997)
This picture of an angel guarding over me took three days to finish. The majority of the work was filling in all the black areas around us and the deep shadows. I like to imagine my real guardian angel looks this way.

Angels in a stable holding Holy Infant "The Babysitters" (1997)
This was my original entry for IPHC Teen Talent competition (a national event run by my church denomination). It depicts the angels watching over the baby Jesus as Mary and Joseph sleep. I was trying to find a new perspective to the usual 'nativity scene' picture. I later entered a different drawing.

The Savior standing in front of an empty tomb "The Gift" (1997)
This was my actual entry for the 1997 IPHC Teen Talent competition. It portrays Jesus stretching out his nail-scarred hands to present mankind with the gift he gave with his death and resurrection - salvation. It won 4th place at the national level last year.

Lady in swirling dress "Adeline" (1996)
Adeline was the first thing I ever drew after I got serious about learning to draw. Considering the amount of practice I had back then (none), I'm still quite impressed with how well she turned out.

A man in armor "Untitled" (1996)
This warrior I did about a month after Adeline. I wanted to do something creative with a men's uniform. I think I like the dragonhead sword the best.
