Detail of LLICLLA (Woman's Mantle) late 19th century. Alpaca wool. From Pitumarca, Department of Cusco. Bands of Compounded Complementary Warp Weave (3-span floats in alternating alignment) alternating with bands of plain warp weave. Noteworthy is another variation of the "Chuncho" or "Inka" Pallay at center left. This alternates with early republican floral motifs and Tocapu-derived designs in the accessory bands.Exceptional color values.
