The Money Pit

One of my biggest money pits are my three marine aquariums. I have a 45 gal hex, a normal 55 gal, and a small 20 gal. The fish on the right is my Niger Trigger that lives in my 55 gal tank. The photo was taken with a overhead flash and a 50mm lens. I probably can not take a better picture of this fish with only a single overhead flash. The trigger is only about 4 inches long and has already killed the Panther Grouper below.

The Panther Grouper on the left was also photographed with a 50mm lens and an overhead flash. The clarity of the grouper is terrible because I used the TTL mode which didn't expose the grouper enough. The trigger and the grouper lived together for over a year, but the grouper kept getting bigger. One day the trigger decided the dots on the grouper were evil and attacked them. This killed the grouper in a few days.

Another death at the money pit. My Snowflake Moral Eel turned up dead just two weeks after I attempted to take some pictures of him my hex tank. I've had him since November 96. The only indications he was dying was he hasn't wanted to eat that much in the past few weeks. Well, at least now I can clean off my coral without getting bitten. Most of the pictures I took two weeks ago were crap because I used a shutter speed of 1/250 and it is impossible to set up for a shot in a six sided tank. Here is the only good shot I have. It is kind of cool how the flash reflected off the red coral and onto the eel.
