Briscoe Darling is the head of the Darling family and a widower.
Briscoe married at the age of thirty; his wife was seventeen, and this was her second marriage.
Briscoe is the father of Charlene Darling and The Boys (Doug, Rodney, Dean, & Mitch). But don't think the boys are the only musicians, Briscoe plays a mean jug.
One of Briscoe's favorite stops in town is The David Mendlebright Memorial. (He stops here to fill up the truck)
Briscoe's a sensible man. On the matter of how to deal with Ernest T. Bass, he replies "Thought about killin' him. Hated to go that far"
He had a one time crush on Aunt Bee. Although he moves pretty fast for Aunt Bee, he say's he'll "put on my square wheels so things won't get to roling too fast."
