EXCEPTIONAL RAINFALL IN BOTSWANA - Worst in 30 Years

Selebi Phikwe Round Table 52 provides Flood Relief

On the 10 & 11 February 2000, tablers from Selebi Phikwe Round Table visited flood stricken areas around Selebi Phikwe (Kagiso, Botshabelo & Mmadinare); distributing food to assist those badly affected by the recent floods. Here are some images of the project.

Some of the 'relief packages' being moved from the Tony Hopkins Landy Coupe because it "Looked like it might rain again" - it did !(Craig Britz, Jeremy Witley, Tony Hopkins)

This grateful man in Mmadinare appeared to be his own - until the rations were delivered. (Old man Craig Britz, Jeremy Witley)

Steve Kenworthy loved his rainsiut and posed time and again. He has just has an idea on how to rebuild this house. Steves son Jack looks on.

Someone used to live in that.

Food supplies were gratefully accepted from RT 52 Chairman Craig Britz. Steve admires the reflection of his rainsuit in a puddle.

Batswana never miss an excuse to be happy. Thanks to Round Table!

It was getting late so we intercepted a donkey cart en-route to a cattle post and loaded them up. This is a small portion of the kids on board.

A happy crowd downstream of the now overflowing Letsibogo Dam. Vice-Africa Regional Chairman (VASC) - Wayne English fills the frame. We left hereafter to view the overflowing spillway.

Craig Britz negotiates us a gate pass to the dam wall. Stocked up on refreshments before climbing the damn wall.

The Stupendous Six who delivered the goods - only half the table but the fist to see the Letsibogo Dam overflow for the inaugural time! (L to R, Erik Bartsch, Tony Hopkins, Jeremy Witley, Craig Britz, , Steve Kenworthy, Wayne English)

One of the largest dams in Botswana fills for the first time. From 20 % to over 100% in weeks!
