Fire Hydrants. Don't ask why because exactly I don't know. They are just neat things. They stand for good in society, pillars of time in our modern day world. In a day when everything changes so rapidly fire hydrants stay the same, no revolutions just always dependable. If you can't count on your neighbourhood fire hydrant then what can you depend on? Okay on that note get out there with your scrub brush and give your neighbourhood fire hydrant a good polish; it could save your life someday.
Below there is a picture of my fire hydrant in its current stage of restoration. At this point I am polishing the brass pieces on each side. You will notice the left side is far shinier then the right. Both still need work. After the polishing is complete painting of the mainbody section will take place. Speaking of painting how does my freshly painted floor look?
It's a 1950 McAvity made in St.John New Brunswick.
I am also working on creating an online database of firehydrants, so if anyone has any pictures of them on their computer could you please email it to me at the below address? Also include the age make and model if possible. Thanks in advance.
The Firehydrant Library
All ages of the firehydrants will be listed soon, i have recently moved and placed the list in a yet to be known area.
