From the moment Anne Shirley meets Matthew Cuthbert, she knows he is a kindred Spirit and has a good heart. Matthew is a very humble man. He is very hard working. He is always following after what his sister Marilla says. Even though Marilla wants a boy orphan, he doesn't care. He loves Anne with all of his heart. Matthew was sort of a father figure to Anne and she loved him for it. He was a kind and gentle man.
