Facts:
In the 1996-1998 period, women were
the 50% of our total membership.
As October 2000, only 25% of our entire
membership are women.
Most of this women membership decrease
is due to movements to other organizations.
Although all of our military-oriented
trainings are open to all, our female members opted specializing at one
of the two primary military occupational skills (Medical Specialist and/or
Military Police). Few continued foward to secondary military occupational
skills such as Infantry, Ranger and/or Special Forces.
From those who continued to the Infantry
courses, there are worthy of mention: 1SG Ghislaine Colón and MSG
Alicia E. Díaz, recipients of the Special Forces training tab, and
our actual General Executive Officer, BGN Carmen G. Felix, only female
who had ended the entire Infantry/Ranger/Special Forces training courses
and our sole female recipient of the Green Beret.
Women are productive members of both
our organization and our community. Proof of this are: former 1SG
Ghislaine Colón (Department Store Clerical), 2LT Idiney Carattini
(Beauty Parlor Nails & Hair specialist), CPT Yiselys Mercado (university
student), and BGN Carmen G. Felix (Paramedic).
TRAININGS THAT WOMEN CAN TAKE HERE:
Initial Entry Training
Advanced Individual Training (Medical
Specialist and/or Military Police)
Infantry-Oriented Courses (Mountain,
Recondo, Ranger 1 and 2)
Computers, Communications, Rappeling
and C.P.R./First Aid Courses
