VR-077 Firefly Veritech Armored Cyclone

III. Service History:

• Served with all branches of the RDF from 2050 and is still in service.

IV. Performance:

• Speed, Motorcycle mode : 336 kph max., 128 kph typical cruising speed
• Speed, Battloid (running) : Approximately equal to that of the pilot.
• Speed, Battloid (flying) : 288 kph at up to 200m, hover at 12.5m
• Max Output: 188hp / 18000rpm
• Fusion supply : 100 hours operational use, on one standard fusion cell.

V. Electronics

• Phillips GN/DOS-3600 Miniview UV, IIR and optical sight system with light intensifier and computer enhancement.
• Harris CT-23 computer targeting system with stereoscopic laser targeting and HUD in Battloid mode.
• Short range radio.

VI. Personal Armor:

• To use the VR-077 Firefly, the pilot must be wearing a suit of CVR-6 Body Armor, to which the Cyclone attaches in Battloid mode. 

VII. Armament:

Internal:

• 2 x GR-106 mini-missile launcher:  The main weapon of older cyclones has remained mostly unchanged in the newer models. The launchers have been updated with newer technology which makes them more resilient to damage and easier to repair. In motorcycle mode, the two missile launchers are side by side in the nose of the cycle. In battloid mode, the missile launchers are divided, with one on each shoulder of the mecha. Both launchers hold 3 IM-07 Black Widow Infantry Missiles.

External:

M model:

• 1 x RRD CA-106 "Hos Box" cyclone medical side car: Designed to provide good facilities for medical field work, in cases where the victim cannot be moved, or even reached by normal ambulances. When used in conjunction with the VR-077 Firefly Rescue Cyclone, the CA-106 can provide superb emergency field care to victims in even the worst of conditions. The Medical Sidecar contains diagnostic, surgical, and medical equipment, all of it microminiaturized and packed compactly in place so that no space is wasted. Because of its amazing facilities it has been nicknamed the "Hospital in a Box," or more simply, the "Hos-Box." The Hos-Box sidecar is air-tight, shock resistant, and has fairly decent armor. When the Cyclone it is attached to converts to battloid mode, the sidecar's single wheel retracts and a handle pops out of the top, so the armored Cyclone Rider may carry the sidecar with him. Though commonly issued only to the VR-077 Firefly Cyclone, the Hos-Box is compatible with any model of Cyclone.

R Model: 

• 2 x Stanley GR-117 rescue hook and welding laser: The GR-117 is a rather unique weapon system originally designed for the VR-077 Firefly rescue cyclone. The primary "weapon" of the GR-117 is a grappling hook launcher with an extremely strong cable and hook. The grappling hook can be used in a variety of purposes, such as a makeshift crane, cable for pulling, or even for securing loose and crumbling fixtures. It can be used for it's original purpose of scaling buildings and walls as well, of course. In addition to the grappling hook, a welding laser is mounted on the module to allow the user to cut through bulkheads and rubble. The GR-117 unit is NOT designed with combat purposes in mind.

NOTE:  All Cyclones can use any type of external module (with the exception of the VR-074 Gorilla), but usually the military will only assign specific modules to specific cyclones although exceptions can be made.

Hand-held:

• A pilot may use a hand-held weapon in any hand not already occupied with a Cyclone weapon mounted on the inner forearm plate (such as the EP-55, EP-54, or RL-10). The most typical weapon carried is the H-95 Raven in rifle mode.

VIII. Armor:

The armor of the Firefly is composed of an advanced titanium-steel alloy. The armor on the Hurricane stops all small arms fire, provides good protection against heavier infantry weapons, such as a 12.7mm machinegun round, and average resistance to light mecha-mounted weaponry, such as the Zentraedi 22.3mm HE autocannon round (though the pilot will be badly concussed). Vulnerable areas of the pilot are part of the upper arms, which are unarmored. The main ability of the Firefly's armor is its high resistance to heat and radioactive elements.  It can withstand temperatures of up to 1000K.  The thighs and helmet are not protected by the Cyclone, but are covered by the CVR armor. Nuclear, biological, and chemical protection is limited to that provided by the CVR armor.
