Safe Treats for Hamsters
From my experience, here is a list of safe treats to give your hamster: (If you find one of these to cause problems, please contact me and I will update this page.)
Safe List:

Nuts: peanuts, walnuts, almonds, pecans

fruit:
banana, green apples (NOT the peels), pears, strawberry, plumb, avacado, kiwi, blueberry

Veggies: carrots, brocolli, collard greens, green beans (fresh or frozen, NOT canned), cucumbers, cabbage, tomato, dark green lettuce <--(IF consumed no more than once or twice monthly) squash, zuccinni

Breads/Cereal: whole wheat only, wheat bagel, unsweetened cereals (plain cheerios, etc)

Dairy: plain yogurt (low in sugar) cottage cheese, american cheese, heavy cream (unsweetened)

Proteins: Mealworms,  COOKED and UNSEASONED turkey and chicken, boiled or scrambled eggs. Also, your hamster will enjoy jarred (baby food) turkey and chicken. Cottage cheese is also a favorite, especially among young pups.

This may seem gross, but wild hamsters get the majority of their protein from insects. Many pet stores carry live crickets. My hamsters get these every couple of weeks- it arouses their natural hunting instinct- and is very filling and satisfying to them.  (Be sure to put your hamster in an enclosed, covered area to hunt crickets. Otherwise the crickets will jump out and end up all over your home. Been there, done that...
