On Sunday, when we were at the town center with my sister Sandy, a
freesia advertisement in the window of the new Bath
and Body Works store caught my eye.
"Hmmm,
freesias. Mom loves floral fragrances..."
I made a mental note to
stop by during the week.
After dinner tonight, we
had a rare, free evening and spent it browsing in the Bath and Body
Works store. Three hours later, I still smell like a
bouquet of flowers: freesia, sweet peas, plumeria, tulip,
orange blossoms, and jasmine.
After an hour of
sniffing, we put together a collection of Sweet Pea lotion, soaps,
scented candle and aromatherapy paraphenalia for Mom.
Before heading home, we
stopped in a neighborhood mall for a card. DH and I stood at the
card rack, assiduously looking hard for the perfect birthday card.
Most were way too mushy or gushy; others, too stuffy or stiffly
formal.
Just as I was about to
settle for a middle-of-the-road, "okay" card, DH
picked this one up and when he opened it, laughed out loud.
Wondering what tickled his funny bone, I peeked over his shoulder.
He quickly closed it up
and handed it to me, grinning.
I looked at the card's
front and smiled.
"Okay. Dog on
the front. That's good. Mom is crazy about dogs. I
read the words in the balloon. Guaranteed to make Mom
feel younger than her years... that'd be nice, but yeah,
right...."
I opened the card:
And I laughed out loud,
too.
I hope this makes
my Mommy smile, maybe even laugh out loud.
If not, I'll make her send it back and hold Hallmark to their
guarantee and get my money back. Nah, just kidding. Our LOLs in the
card aisle were worth at least $3.65 and lots more.
(Is it just me or are
cards egregiously overpriced these days?)
