I'll Be Home for Christmas (wav)
The last card on the
list was mailed off this morning. We readied the house for
Christmas Eve dinner, and then hit the road to get here.
Traffic was minimal, and we got up here within an hour and a
half.
Ahh, finally we're on
vacation.
Here we are at home in
the mountains. The house was frigid, brrrrrrr. It took at least two
hours before it was comfortably heated. Now with the fire going, it
is downright toasty. Mmmmmmmm.
Look who just sacked
out:
That's our girl, O! Z-z-z-z-z-z-z.
We got up here just in
time to watch Oprah's holiday
music extravaganza with Destiny's Child, Charlotte Church, Nancy
Wilson. Gorgeous. We cozied right into the Christmas spirit.
The
Bear Tree and Oprah
Oprah is asking everyone
who believes in the power of prayer (that would be me) to join
in prayer for her friend, Mattie. Today, I join her prayer
circle for Mattie Stepanek, an 11-year old peacemaker and poet of
"heartsongs."
>> Read about
Mattie here.
Won't you join us?
Dear God,
There are no words for the depth of our feelings for Mattie.
We pray for his healing.
We pray for his care and protection.
Please, send Your angels to bless and surround him always.
May he always see You at the center of his life.
May he grow strong,
May he be healthy.
May he be blessed,
To live most fully and love most deeply.
To continue to give the world his Heartsongs.
That is our wish.
That is our prayer for him forever.
We ask for a miracle for Mattie...
We surrender him into Your hands.
Amen

ILLUMINATA, "Prayer for our Children," pg. 183.
No, Mattie, though
I've never met you, it is not
too much trouble to pray for you, but it is my privilege and honor
to do so.
