Elle Ragu, at first glance, is a drunken, easy-going girl who just happens to be one of the greatest warriors in Kuruda. She became sevalle at the age of 14 and is the only female sevalle alive today. (There are other female sevalles though...you can refer to Okada-sensei's site"Mind Control Bomb" for more details.)

Elle constantly drinks away their money and generally uses Gau as something to wipe the floor with. She also lacks finesse (much to Faury's consternation) and does not know how to act like a girl, preferring to fight rather than endure the niceties of formality and shopping. As symbolized by her red hair in the anime, Elle is an impulsivwe girl quick to anger...A fact not too obvious by the blond 'do she sports in the OVA...but physically speaking, Elle looks much better in the OVA.

She's 17 years old, a bit young for such a burden so we can excuse the chldish behavior but *not* the horrendous singing voice. *runs away when Elle starts to sing* Aargh! Not that torture again!

You can also say that Elle, like many of the sevalles, put on the toughie act. All the bit about being a shield to protect Kuruda and growing stronger. But inside, she's a marshmallow. She can't stand leaving people behind (remember Gau and then Faury and Kyo). She also cares a lot about Gau and her real brother Dias. *sighs and waves GauxElle banner*

Elle pushes Gau to his limit, training him to become a sevalle even at the cost of her own training, a fact that everyone is criticizing about. Elle ignores it and continues training our darling boy. As of the moment, it is not clear if Elle and Gau will end up together but the young lady fair dotes on the lad and is awfully protective...and in Volume 5 of the Manga, Elle is challenged by Kyo for Gau *cheers and snickers*Now don't you wish you have the manga too?

Past: When Elle was a young girl, she contracted an illness that threatened her life. This self-same illness caused her parents' death and the cost of the medicine was high. Dias, in order to save her, pushed himself hard, hiring himself out as a mercenary. He managed to save Elle's life but in consequence, his own body deteriorated.

Black Wing as Dias is called could have become a sevalle if not for his illness. But since he was ill, he never got to be sevalle and Elle became one instead. That's why Elle is guilty. Of course, near Dias' er, departure, she managed to tell him how much she loved him and owed him her life.

In the TV Series, it ends where Elle is exiled outside of Kuruda with Gau as her attendant *waves EllexGau banner in utter delight* This is continued in the manga where lots of interesting things happen.

“Do you know why people fear us? Because we have the power called fear which is both sad and painful, because we can kill with one blow and so easily at that.” -to Gana Gee, in the battle on the border of Soludufan and Kuruda with the old Kuruda mercenaries, the p[lot to take Elle as far away from Proruhan as possible so she won't be able to help Dias

“Wait for me, my brother Dias, I will be with you soon.” -after defeating Gana Gee

“Fighting is our career. But fighting and killing are two different things.” -to Gau, one of their training sessions

“You need to bet your life in the heat of the battle.” -to Gau, I forgot exactly where >.<

“In order to become a sevalle, you need to train your soul. You are doubting that your techniques have soul.” -to Gau, in a training session after the Proruhan fight

“I do what I have to do.” --gomen! i forgot again o.O

“I wanted to say thank you for all that you’ve done, brother.” -to Dias, in Dias' rented rooms in Kuruda

“My brother always says that there is always a battle that can only be fought by one’s own self. But that is something that’s true only for the valle.” -to Kyo, before G enters the city. Elle is warning Kyo not to risk herself rashly

“But remember, when it comes down to it, it is also the courage, the courage to flee.” -to Kyo, before G enters the city. Its a hint, Kyo, girl. One that Kyo was too dense to listen to.

“You will die for all this, G. She’s like a precious sister. She’s like a precious sister of mine.” -to G, Elle getting angry at G for almost killing Kyo

“The identity of our enemy is the glory of Kuruda…sevalle!” -to Gau and Folli, warning them of G

“Brother, don’t worry about Gau. He’ll beat G for sure.” -to Dias, when Elle catches up with Scarface and Dias and Dias is worrying about Gau fighting G, Kuruda is burning. The utter confidence in Elle's voice is just so adorable.

“A dream…if you work hard you can get it. Kuruda’s that kind of city.” -to Gau,long ago, when they first met and Gau asked her where she was going.

“Something is always left. Gau, do you know that? Pride and spirit, as long as there is pride and spirit, the city of Kuruda will never be destroyed.” -to Gau, actually it was just a thought that Elle was entertaining after remembering that Gau's hometown was also burned down like Kuruda

“In order to be strong, you have to be determined. You are the only one to choose your own path.” -Little Elle to little Gau after asking him if he was going to go with her

“I’ve broken the rules of the four fighters, no matter the reason [snip] Hurry now, Gau. We haven’t much time left.” -teaching Gau Kanon, the ultimate Shadow Skill annihilation technique beforeDias died

”Gau, listen! I’m risking my life for you. I’m serious.” -Elle's voice reverberating in Gau's brain as he cries out in fear, Darkness has slashed his throat and he lies on the ground bleeding, Dias vs Darkness

“I will save him.” -to Kyo, when Kyo tried to go with Elle to Gau, Elle told Kyo this to reassure her and to make her stay put, Dias vs Darkness

“You idiot!” -to Darkness, after seeing Gau bleeding to death, Dias vs Darkness. Elle loves Gau very much, and that is my totally biased opinion!

“Brother, I know that it was painful but you kept on fighting for us. Thank you. You can rest in peace now. You can just relax…good night.” -kawaii Elle with her hair down, saying her final goodbye to her brother, aftermath of Dias vs Darkness fight

“It is a fact that my brother is gone. I can understand what it is like to lose your family…but we haven’t died so we must make the best of it.” -to Gau, in a training session after Dias died. Gau is telling Elle that he doesn't care about anything anymore but Elle tries to reassure him while trying to handle her own grief as well, tears fall from her eyes

“When I look at the moon, I remember my brother but its no good because the moon is always getting smaller and smaller, like my brother’s life.” -to Gau, crying a little, after Darkness vs Dias fight

“”My brother is no longer with us, but I do have you. That’s alright…with you? I don’t mind it, risking my own life for you, I would do it everyday. If you are the shield that protects the country then I will be the shield that protects the sword. And the name of the sword is courage.” -to Gau, atop a sort of plateau, after Dias has been declared Sword of Ashlianna, Elle is giving Dias' Black Wing to Gau. Ultimate EllexGau moment: The kiss! Wai! Wai!

“I’m a Kuruda mercenary. 59th Sevalle, Shadow Skill, Elle Ragu! I will repeat the battle of Proruhan for all of you. Make your resolution!” -to Soludufan army, Soludufan vs Kuruda.

“Gau, what decides the end of the battle is courage. As I said, there is a sword called courage that is with you all the time.” -to Gau before she sends him out to attack the Soludufan army's unprotected flank. I just love this because its just after the "Kiss" and its so EllexGau!

“Get up. Gau Ban. Now get up! You must get up. Black Howling!” -to Gau, concerned Elle after she destroyed the piece of Juliannes that was falling towards Kuruda. Badly bruised, she is being propped up by the old Kuruda mercenaries. A really concerned Elle telling Gau to get up, Gau vs Ren Fuuma

“Even if I die, as long as you want me to, I will be the sword that removes the fear lodged in your heart.” -Elle in Gau's thoughts, when Gau's mind wandered in his mindscape where Darkness is telling him to become like a beast, Gau vs Ren Fuuma
