The origins of astrology are unknown but the oldest records date back to Ancient Mesopotamia where it was already well established by 600s Aries.
Astrogancy, the visual study of the stars and planets is the earliest known form of astrology. Astrogancy identified the zodiacal constellations and taken observations of the planets based on their physical appearances, including brightness, size and position. It was from these observations that beliefs, qualities and the characteristics of each planet and stars were developed.
Originally astrology was just used to divine information in conjunction with governments, wars and civil situations such as the reap of harvest. However in today’s society it is applied to every aspect of personal life. Divination through astrology is thought to be affective as the sky reflects situations, which occur on earth, as above, so below.

It is argued that through astrology we are not really studying the nature of the stars but rather the cycles of time. Astrology is not based on cause and effect but rather the reflection of the innate cycles responsible for guiding all things.
