Numerology is the divination of numbers, it is the name given to an ancient method of studying numbers 1000s of years ago. It looks at the hidden meaning found in numbers behind all living things. It argues that every living thing has a numerical value, which can be decoded from its name. These numbers correspond to the inner nature and can be used to revel inside details. Numerology can be used to decode specific letters, words, names and even dates.

There are two different systems which are found in today’s society, the Hebrew and the Pythagorean systems.

The Hebrew system, which is based on the Hebrew alphabet was used primary by cabalists, and is focused on the number six. It originates from the Pythagorean system but is very different to that now, after being adopted by the ancient Jews in the Hellenistic era. It doesn’t, however, work very well with the English alphabet.

The Pythagorean system uses the numbers 1 – 9, with 10 corresponding back to number one and multiples of ten being the start of the next cycle. It has an affinity with the music system used for writing music and the mathematical links between the notes. Pythagoras believed that the vibrational frequencies that the notes refer to found in all living things, this is where his belief and idea of numerology came from. Each one of the nine numbers represents a monad. A monad is a manifestation of the goddess which she separated from herself in order to reunite with god and to enter the materialist world.

An object has many different correspondences, with numbers being one. When all these correspondences are used together then the natural sequence that creation unfolds through is represented. It can be used to give insight into personalities and motivations.ent specific personality traits.

Methods of Numerology

The base number is found by analysing a person’s full birth name and turns each letter into a separate number which are added up together until they are reduced to a single number which is 9 or under. It gives an overall view of strengths and weaknesses.

The personality number is found by using a person’s nickname or what they like to be known as. It gives an insight into how the person expresses themselves in the world.

The life-path number is found by analysing a person’s date of birth and adding all the numbers from that together. It shows the major direction of that person’s life and the lessons they are here to learn.

A numerology birth chart records the numbers from a date of birth in a nine square grid. This can then be explored to identify lines known as the arrows of Pythagoras which dignify different specific personality traits.
