The outer planets aren’t yet completely understood and some astrologists choose to ignore them. When they are included the outer planets refer to the more spiritual aspects of the seven Ptolemaic planets. They are associated with matters such as intuition, spirituality and high-level energies including magick. Occasionally asteroids are also included in contemporary astrology.

Uranus -
A higher octave of Mercury - it represents intellectual powers in the form of inspiration, new thinking and deeper understandings. It also stands for the unexpected and new beginnings through spiritual enlightenment. It is sometimes considered the planet of destiny and fate. Negatively Uranus represents unpredictability, rebellion, instability and violence. Also connected to natural disasters.

Neptune -
A higher octave of Venus - it represents deep emotions overwhelming the ego in the sense of selflessness. It is symbolic of self sacrifice and service to others. Neptune symbolises compassion, emotional sensitivity, imagination and creativity. It is a planet of spirituality and magick and as such is connected to intuition, psychism and mystery. Negatively Neptune symbolises over emotion and lack of physical drive and is easily subjective to victimisation, addiction and deception.

Pluto - A higher octave of Mars - it represents change, transformation and the clearing away of the old to make room for the new. It is connected with searching for self-knowledge, inner development and finding ones place in the universe. Pluto is connected with magic and psychism and the use of spiritual energies especially those linked to sexuality and sexual magic. Negatively Pluto is linked to obsessions and extreme out of character actions.
