Archie Gouldie

    Archie Gouldie, AKA the Mongolian Stomper, was a stand out Canadian star in the 60s and 70s. Gouldie holds the record for most Stampede Heavyweight Titles won with 8 (he is tied with Leo Burke). An imposing muscled figure, Gouldie was a charismatic star of early Stampede Wrestling cards.
    Gouldie travelled around the world, to Europe and Asia, into the States, but always came back to Calgary when he began to be missed.
    Gouldie occassionally wrestles, even today. He often wrestles as simply The Mongolian Stomper.

1965:
    June: Gouldie beats Ron Reed for the Central States Heavyweight Title
    July: Gouldie loses the Central States title to Sonny Meyers.

1968:
    February: Gouldie becomes the first Stampede North American Heavyweight Champion, beating Pat O'Connor for the title.
    Gouldie loses the title later in the year to Vic Rossitani.
    Gouldie regains the title late in the year from Stan Stasiak.

1969:
    Gouldie loses the title to Dave Ruhl. Gouldie regains the title from Ruhl later in the year. Gouldie then loses the Stampede Title to Billy Robinson.

1972:
    June: Gouldie beats Danny Little Bear for the Central States Heavyweight Title
    July: Gouldie loses the Central States title to Harley Race.

1973:
    July: Gouldie beats Abdullah the Butcher for his fourth Stampede Heavyweight Title.
    Gouldie loses the Stampede title to Dan Kroffat later in the year.
    Gouldie regains the Stampede Title late in the year from Omar Atlas.

1974:
    Gouldie loses the title to Harley Race, but regains it from Race later in the year.
    Gouldie drops the Stampede Title to Danny Little Bear later in the year.

1975:
    June: Gouldie beats Robert Fuller for the NWA Southern Title.
    August: The Southern Title is held up after a match with Bob Armstrong, Armstrong wins the title in a rematch.

1977:
    Gouldie beats Karl von Schotz for his seventh Stampede Heavyweight Title.
    Gouldie loses the title to Larry Lane later in the year.

1979:
    April: Gouldie beats Toru Tanaka for the NWA Southern Title.
    June: Gouldie loses the Southern Title to Robert Fuller.

1980:
    December: The Mongolian Stomper beats Jack Brisco for the Georgia Heavyweight Championship.

1981:
    March: The Stomper loses the Georgia Title to Steve O.

1983:
    December: Gouldie beats Bad News Allen for his eight title reign as Stampede Heavyweight Champion.
