The Healing Runes - by Ralph H. Blum and Susan Loughan
(my review)
As a witch I have learned to pay better attention to what I feel and my inner voice/ intuitions. I have felt a drawing towards Runes. I searched the websites and studied about them. One of my favorite sties is on my home page under "favorite links". The more I learned the more confused I became. I was drawn to the stones, but found their meanings confusing. I also did not feel comfortable with the reference to pagan gods . I decided what I wanted from the runes for was guidance in my personal growth. Then I saw this book The Healing Runes . At first these meanings were uncomfortable because many of them are contradictory to there traditional (Viking) meanings. I left the book on my shelf and continued to study traditional meanings. It was coming harder then I felt it should have. Then one day I took the book off the shelf and it all clicked for me. I had the symbols and there meanings memorized with in a day. I did a reading on myself that was very clear as to where I have been and what I should do now. I try to use them daily. My morning routine is to make my tea then sit at the table and light a candle. I ask God/dess what should I work on todayand then draw the rune. I'll read the  lesson that comes with it in the book and meditating on its meaning.
This book is a wealth of information and the only rune book I  ever see myself needing. It not only give clear definitions as to the meaning of the symbols, but different layout and ways to use the runes as well. If these titles feel that they have a place in you path, then I recommend you get the book. You can get the book with the stones, but I preferred to pick out my own stones. Mine are clear quartz stones.
As far as a Christian using divination. I feel that it is no different then asking God a question and flipping open you Bible to read for the answer. I just like the feel of the stones and I feel that God will communicate with us by whatever method we give Her.
